I am feeling very thankful tonight.
My family has been going in various directions this week.
Walter was away to northern B.C. as a guest of Samaritan's Purse.  As they are developing a ministry in Dease Lake, B.C., the organization wanted to call in some folks who had experience in First Nations' ministry.  Through connections too complicated to elaborate here, God brought Walter to Dease Lake to make some observations of their outreach and to give some input.  So last Sunday night I dropped my husband off at the Regina Airport and picked him up last night (Saturday).  He jumped on various planes, drove for hours and even had supper in Prince Rupert on the Pacific coast, before finally arriving at his destination.  He was out of cell phone range and the WiFi was weak.  It felt strange to be out of touch in this age of technology.
Caylea has graduated from Bible College.  She has unpacked her luggage, resettled in her room and begun the adventures of "job-hunting".  Having spent most of her summers serving the Lord at Bible Camp, her only experience in the world of secular employment has been housekeeper at the Best Western Inn & Suites.  She had a great first interview there and was hired on the spot.  Although the job was never full-time, she enjoyed the satisfaction of cleaning and bringing home a paycheque.  But now, she needs to find something more long-term and sufficient to pay off student loans.
Daniel moved out earlier this year.  He only moved across town, but I miss him around home.  And now, he has gone to Saskatoon for the next two months, taking his schooling for sheet metal apprenticeship.  His excitement to pursue this new adventure in life - and be closer to his girlfriend who lives in Saskatoon- is a joy for a mother to see.  It was also comforting to have him text when he left the city and then check in again when he arrived at his destination.
Mark & Amy will soon begin a new adventure of their own.  By mid-August, they will have given up their rental home, put their belongings in storage, and be heading for the east coast.  They have accepted a position with "One Hope" as mentors/dorm parents for a group of students in a mobile discipleship school.  They are excited and scared as they prepare and anticipate this step of faith into ministry.
And as I have been home all last week, I have been the one to support, listen, coach, bake cookies and be available.  In some ways, I have been on my own adventure, even though I didn't leave the city limits... in praying for my family as God was leading each of them into unexplored realms in their lives.  My own journey has been to learn to truly hear when my loved ones share, to sense what God is doing and learn how to pray according to His will.  This has been a rich week.
Walter is home safe.
Caylea had one job interview and is waiting for some possible training.
Daniel is ready to start classes tomorrow morning.
Mark and Amy had a teleconference and will know more details of their ministry.
I am so thankful that each one is safe and blessed.
God is faithful and has taken care of us.

  1. Thanks, Cindy. I didn't know some of these things. Sorry I took so long to finally read your blog. God is stretching your family across the map, too. Not only will they have new experiences but you will lam about and pray for people and places you didn't ever think about before. Blessings, Cliff 😄
